The Good Development Plan: A blueprint for building better, faster

Building faster is only half the answer

The Good Development Plan sets out how Government can make purpose-driven development the norm, not the exception. It was produced in partnership with ReGenerate, and supported by The Crown Estate, Landsec, Muse and HGG London.

The report is grounded in primary research with more than 20 developers of purpose-driven schemes and built-environment experts, gathered through in-depth interviews, surveys and workshops, alongside a review of current national policy. It sets out fourteen practical interventions across five themes — value measurement, funding and incentives, public-private partnerships, shaping whole places, and capability and collaboration — each building on reforms the Government has already begun.

It also includes case studies from developments including Citu’s Climate Innovation District in Leeds, Fabrix’s Walworth Corners in Southwark, and Nationwide Building Society’s Oakfield in Swindon, showing that purpose and profit can already reinforce each other in practice.
