The Quality of Life Foundation
The Quality of Life Foundation’s aim is to raise people’s quality of life by making wellbeing central to the way we create and care for our homes and communities.
We have carried out research into what people need from their local areas; designed a quality of life framework; and are instigating practical projects to support more long-term thinking in industry and government. We are a small but influential organisation and are looking to grow over the coming years.
We are looking to appoint a talented and experienced urban designer to help with the development of a range of services built around people’s quality of life, starting with YourQOL, a resident-led post-occupancy evaluation survey. We are a growing organisation and want to work with someone who understands the importance of the built environment to people’s health and wellbeing, and is committed to improving standards in the UK housing market. A talented urban designer with 10 years’ experience, your ideas would impact the way we outreach, communicate and develop our services and that we offer.
- Managing the delivery of our YourQOL post-occupancy evaluation projects
- Working with an assistant researcher to ensure maximum engagement
- Working alongside our partner commonplace
- Analysing survey results and presenting results back to client
- Developing recommendations for development improvements and conveying these to client
- Approaching clients from the built environment sector to sell YourQOL
A good understanding of UK and local planning requirements, design codes and community engagement is a must. It is desirable to have experience in social science field work including surveys and focus groups, and some experience with statistical analysis of survey data, ideally in a consultancy context. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. You must have a passion for seeking innovative, sustainable and creative design solutions for ever-challenging social problems and to use research and analysis to underpin them.
We are a research and development charity with a trading subsidiary through which we provide products and services. A strong sense of personal responsibility and dedication to your work and the work of the team is required. You’ll be working alongside our friendly team of three who have background across the built environment, comms and social value sectors.
