The Quality of Life Foundation team’s hopes for 2024

Well here we are, entering another new year. And with a general election coming up, it’s one with potential to see a lot of change.

Here at the Quality of Life Foundation, we’re an optimistic bunch. So we’re choosing to believe that that change will be for the better – that the year ahead has lots of potential for positive shifts in policy and practice towards delivering true, long term social impact through our homes and neighbourhoods.

To get the year started, we asked the team what their wishes for 2024 are. Here’s a little round-up of what they said:

Matthew Morgan, Director:

“2024 is an election year, and housing promises to be high on the agenda because of the combined pressures of supply, quality, affordability and neighbourhoods, all in the midst of a breakdown in our climate.

“I wish that we stop seeing housing purely through the prism of units and profits, and more as critical infrastructure, which has the potential to achieve positive and lasting social impact.

“That means grasping the opportunity that a new government represents to enhance people’s health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities, build resilience and provide jobs and growth within and for local communities”.

Melissa Lacide, Senior Engagement Officer:

“I have two wishes for the sector in 2024. The first relates to meaningful community engagement, and the second to the stewardship of places.
